Holy shit fuck Kean University. If you live in NJ and are looking at colleges, don't bother looking at Kean. If you want to dorm, living in a dumpster with a homeless man would be a more enjoyable experience than living at Kean. There are 4 separate construction projects going on in the middle of the semester and now they've finally done it, half the power is out around half of the campus' dorms. I'm sitting in my dorm room in the dark because the lights are out and the outlet that my lamp is plugged into doesn't work. It's not worth going to the community room as that light is out too. And outside to get some air? 4 generators are whirring and buzzing, plus the designated area for hanging out is completely dug up and fenced off.
Powers been out for over an hour, and the campus police or residence life has yet to say a word about what's going on.
On the academic side: After this semester, I'll be the only person left in my department and one of two in the entire Earth Science department. So they aren't offering advanced classes one might need to get out. One of my professors is trying to get at least one class approved for just 2 students but it's unlikely. I should've transferred when I had a chance but now I'd lose 3/4ths of my credits.
I've honestly never been so frustrated and finished with something like I am with college. People told me this would be the best part of life. They were wrong, and it's mostly due to the incompetence of people running this unorganized shitshow of a school.

College sucked, which is why I decided to graduate and GTFO

I'm starting to lean on the GTFO part without the graduating part since it's gonna take a few extra years at the rate they've been offering classes that I need.

Keep your chin up. This too shall pass.
Tonight would be a great night to egg the president's house.

WTF? GTFO is right! Where I went, they guaran-fuckin-teed that you'd be in and out in 4 years as long as you didn't fail any non-elective classes

My advisor has told me that it was more likely I'd be here for 5 years and "most people don't graduate in 4 years these days". Now I know that was a way of saying "you'll be here more than 4 years because the classes you need won't be offered".

Yep. I faced similar struggles. If I wasn't taking 20+ credits a term, I would be there for *over* 5 years simply because the chemistry program was laughable in the classes they offered. I will forever remember Junior year where I had over 32 horus of class and lab time for a mere 21 credit hours. Oh and I was writing upwards of 40 pages a week for my lab classes alone. I almost transferred out after that because that was the only way I could take my upper level courses. I had zero free time and my "blow off" class was a math class I think. So yeah, real fun year that one was.....On the plus side my last three semesters were jokes. I made dean's list by being drunker and lazier than I had ever been in my whole life.
Moral of the story - alcohol gets you on dean's list where hard work gets you a failing grade.

Fun fact: Kean was actually close to losing their accreditation a couple years ago, and the shit you mentioned is large part of why that happened.
You might as well just transfer and lose the credits. It seems to be worth it even with the amount of credit you'll be losing.

I applied to Kean back in tie day. I visited the campus...didn't take the tour because it looked like a shithole.

Are you talking about Kean at OCC? If so, you should have been well informed of how things run around there.

I feel you, buddy. This year, college was not the best experience so I'm transferring next year. It sounds like you should do the same. From what I've heard, Kean seems like a weird school, so transferring to somewhere you would be happier and spending an extra year there might be worth it. Just my two cents, but obviously theres the whole money issue that might make the loss of credits not worth it.

Kinda sounds like my college years. Pretty much lived in a construction zones every single year for my undergraduate career. Noise, power outages, trash everywhere. Sure glad I paid out of state for that! Didn't even get to use those lovely facilities they were building!
But at least my time in grad school was better. By "better" I mean MORE campus wide construction projects! Went to an entirely different college in a different state and still ended up walking around construction fences and through muddy paths for buildings I was never going to be able to use.
God I hated college...

They've improved the looks of it a lot. But they didn't improve anything else.

Yup, that was still going on when I was a freshman. They resolved that and the it was uncovered that the President got his job after using plagarized papers a couple of weeks later. He's still running the show though.

I go to a school that I ended up not liking. Small liberal arts school. IDK why I chose it. But, I'm trying to do the 3 year plan (one year left). The class selection is terrible since there are such few students and too many tenured professors that DGAF. I actually took a leave of absence this semester and am taking all the BS classes at my local community college. It's the way to go. Saved $10k just by doing that. Over the summer I will be taking CLEP exams and hopefully a credit internship. Then I will finish my last year and GTFO. College is definitely not what I thought it would be. Small, underfunded schools suck. Best of luck to you.

Best of luck to you. No one ever says "Remember how awesome that dorm was?" As for the credits, stick with it at this point.
